These applications can have quite different seating requirements from larger mining, construction or agricultural machinery. Operator compartments are often more compact, mounting heights may be restricted and the seat can sit close to steering controls, hydraulic levers, consoles or protective structures.
Depending on the equipment and seat model, available features may include mechanical suspension, air suspension, operator-weight adjustment, fore/aft slides, armrests, seat belts, hip restraints and operator presence switches. Sears industrial seating ranges, for example, include products intended for forklifts, skid steers and other compact industrial applications.
Choosing a Replacement Forklift or Industrial Seat
Before selecting a replacement seat, it is important to check the existing seat dimensions and mounting pattern as well as the available space around the operator.
Seat height can be particularly important where headroom, visibility or access to controls is limited. The original machine may also incorporate an operator presence switch or another function through the seat, which needs to be identified when specifying a replacement.
A seat that fits the mounting holes but places the operator too high, too far forward or interferes with controls may not be an appropriate replacement.
Send us a photograph of the complete existing seat, its identification plate and the forklift or machine make and model. Photos of the mounting area and electrical connections can also be useful where the existing seat incorporates an operator presence switch or powered features.
